Saving a Search

Plans: All plans

Your changes in Search Studio are only a preview until you save. You can update the search you opened, or save your changes as a new search.

Check it first

The Doctor section, in the Studio layout, looks for common mistakes, such as:

  • Amounts are probably double-counted: a transaction search that sums amounts without a main line filter.
  • This search will not run: some summary columns have no summary type.
  • This returns exactly one row: every column is totalled and nothing is grouped.
  • AND and OR are mixed without brackets: the search may not match what you meant.

Each finding says how to fix it.

Saving

To save your changes:

  1. In the bar above the results, click Save to update this search, or Save as new… to make a copy.
  2. Check the Search title. For a new search, tick Public if everyone should see it.
  3. Click Update search or Save search.

If you changed the search since the last run, Save is greyed out. Click Re-run first.

Important: Update search replaces the criteria and columns straight away, for everyone who uses the search. The panel has no undo. Use Save as new… if you aren't sure.

Saving doesn't change the search's audience, roles, email schedules or highlighting. Set those in NetSuite.

Copying it as SuiteScript

On the Script tab, click Copy to copy the search as SuiteScript 2.1, or Save .js to download it as a file. It's ready to use in your own scripts.
