Editing Columns and Formulas
Plans: All plans (AI help: Pro)
In the Studio layout, the Columns section lists the search's result columns. Add one and it runs straight away, so you see real values in the new column.
Adding a column
To add a column:
- Click Add column.
- Choose a Field. To use a field from a related record, type the join followed by a dot, such as vendor.
- Optionally, change the Label or choose a Summary, such as Sum or Group.
- Click Add.
To move a column, drag it by its grip, either in the list or in the results header. To edit a column, click its edit button. To remove it, click its remove button.
Formula columns
To add a formula column:
- Click Add column and switch Column to Formula.
- Choose a Type, such as Numeric or Text.
- Type the formula. Type { for field suggestions, or start a function name to see its syntax.
- Click Add.
If NetSuite can't work out the formula, the cells show ERROR: and a red bar shows how many rows failed. Click Edit formula to fix it, or Fix with AI to have SuiteHUD AI rewrite it (Pro). A fix from AI is run first and only offered if it returns clean results.
Summary searches
When you give the first column a Summary, the search becomes a summary search. Search Studio asks what to do with the other columns:
- Leave them as they are: they become drill-down columns, which are hidden from the summary rows.
- Group them: they stay in the summary rows, with one row for each combination.
Tip: The Fields tab lists every field you can use. Click one to copy it, or to insert it into the formula you're writing.
